Tips for creating Sketch designs which can be helpful to create logical HTML output Open a folder and open index.html to see the result in your browser. Once exported, you can go the exported location and you will find folder(s) named after the name of your artboards(s) selected for export. The path is also mentioned in the dialog box. Go to the menu bar, Plugins>Genus>Export.Īfter processing, the HTML and associated assets are exported to the same location as the Sketch file. Select the artboard(s) you want to export as HTML. Open your design made in Sketch (Alternatively, we have provided a test Sketch file in the zip file under testing>sketch>genus-test-cases.sketch). Double click on Genus.sketchplugin to install the plugin.Click on Genus Github zip download to get the compressed repo.Make sure you have Sketch installed in your Mac OS machine.Last but not the least, its free! How to install Genus Also, it being no longer a black box, one can know its inner workings. Genus, being open source gives an opportunity to customize the HTML and CSS output which could be useful to pair it with existing design system libraries, low code generators, etc which might be used in your projects. Why still use Genus might be a question one could have. There are other plugins available offering similar functionality which are paid and/or non-open source. Also the developer ecosystem for Sketch is quite mature. It makes a good platform to target in the beginning. In spite of many competing platforms like - Adobe XD, Figma, Invision Studio, Framer X - to name a few, and Sketch being Mac OS only, it still has one of the largest and oldest userbase, with a lot of companies and its designers already invested in it. Genus, is an open source plugin made for Sketch which enables one to quickly export an HTML version of your design. And it really helps if we can directly export a design from a design tool into HTML, to accelerate the process. It is easy for designers to flesh them out in vector based UX toolkits like Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma and the likes. Many a times, there is a need to quickly prototype web pages. If you want to view bigger images, different file types, and if you want HTML snipplets, then you will have to pay their monthly fee.Genus - An open source plugin to convert Sketch to HTML The software is free if you are only looking to preview your files with a small 100px x 100px PNG image. Not only does it mean that you can view your design efforts on your PC, you can also collaborate with other Windows users when undertaking design projects. The process is instant and doesn’t interrupt your listening. You can stream from your Mac as you work from a cafe, then seamlessly transfer the queue to your iPhone to listen as you commute back home. It allows you to control the queue, output device, pause/play, and more on any of your connected devices. Spotify Connect is the kind of magic you’d expect Apple to be best at. You can hand off music from an iPhone to a HomePod, but there’s no Spotify Connect equivalent. The list is endless - but it doesn’t include Music, not properly at least. Unlock Macs and Face ID iPhones through Apple Watch. Type a document on your Apple computer, and annotate and sign it through iPadOS. Start reading an article on macOS, resume reading it on iOS. ContinuityĪpple is well-known for its unbeatable ecosystem. You’d think that’s a motivator to focus on releasing a solid product in a field you’re trying to dominate - but apparently not. Apple doesn’t offer a free plan, so all of its users are paid. I don’t get why Apple doesn’t seriously invest some of its (relatively) unlimited resources to properly update the music apps across its operating systems. And don’t get me started on the search field that often requires me to delete and retype to display results. The Cupertino giant recently revamped the Music app on macOS, but it still is clunky, glitchy, and sometimes it literally crashes completely. So it’s not really reliable for listening to the freshest songs from the artists you care about.Īdditionally, Spotify’s Mac app is smoother than Apple’s - in my opinion. And even this playlist sometimes includes songs that had been released a week or two earlier. Now I just check my New Music Mix to see if any of my favorite artists have new releases. However, most of the songs I get are just too meh. I used to check these playlists every time they refresh. Chill Mix - includes personalized songs to help you wind down.New Music Mix - includes new releases by artists you actively listen to or ones the algorithm thinks you’ll like.Friends Mix - includes the music your Apple Music friends are listening to. Favorites Mix - includes songs you frequently play.Get Up! Mix - includes upbeat songs that the algorithm believes you’ll like.Apple offers five personalized playlists that update weekly - excluding Replay playlists: When it comes to Apple Music - where do I even start?! The algorithm just never gets it. Eventually, they invited me to their headquarters to meet the software engineers and discuss my ideas with them. I would send the company endless bug reports, and they would fix them in the following releases. However, the experience was too buggy for my liking, despite the app’s innovative features and active development. I could subscribe to Anghami’s premium plan as well, considering it was officially available there. It was my only decent option, after trying several services with VPN, such as Pandora, Deezer, and others. The free plan’s restrictions were too annoying, and logging in every other week was inconvenient.Īnghami was founded in Lebanon, and it’s the first legal music streaming service in the region. I had already fallen in love with the service for reasons I’ll mention below, but it was time to say goodbye. Additionally, I had to log back in every two weeks with VPN enabled - once it detected I was in an unsupported region. However, that meant I couldn’t subscribe to its premium plan. So I resorted to VPN to access Spotify’s free service. At the time Spotify wasn’t available in the MENA region, and I was living in Lebanon. But-as I’ve said before-the WTF factor is on its translunar course with Dig Dug. You can lose a life in three ways: getting smashed by a falling boulder, upon contact with both Pooka or Fygar, or by getting caught in Fygar’s fiery breath.Īll and all, don’t get me wrong, the basic gameplay-principles aren't that bad at all. You start with only three lives, with an additional life every 50,000 score points. As the pump requires 3-4 blows to actually kill an enemy and before that it merely stops the enemy from moving around, you can use it to stall some of the creatures that are chasing you, so that you gain a little time to get rid of the rest and thin the number of your pursuers. Both will chase you on-sight, either through dug out corridors or through solid soil. While Pookas are round little tomato-like ghosts, Fygars are dangerous fire breathing dragons. Now the enemies, as I’ve mentioned before, there are two kinds of these: Pookas and Fygars. Enemies-there are two types of them-can be killed in two ways: either by inflating them to death with your air pump or by dropping boulders on them-you’ll get extra points for that. The deeper underground you are, when killing the enemy, the more points you get for the kill. You take the role of Taizo Hori-whoever that is and whatever his occupation and motives are-and your objective is to dig underground and kill all monsters that live there, for which you gain score points. And indeed, the WTF factor is hitting the Moon here. It’s one of those games, you know, where you just wonder how could have anyone possibly come up with that kind of stuff without being sky high on drugs in the process. I don’t think I was much successful, though. I’ve really tried to like Dig Dug, I really did. This game working perfectly with emulator version mame32, you can download on this web site. You have demonstrated that there is little or nothing to lose using LR instead of OV.ġ. What has your experience been with either? What are your thoughts? Have you tried both? Any other observations I haven’t brought up here? Again, this wasn’t a which is better in terms of software use…but more a comparison to see if lightroom can provide the same color looks. At the end of the day, I stick with lightroom. For me its a draw.ĭo I like one or the other? To me I can obtain the same results from either. I preferred Lightroom’s detail rendering personally. I found OV3 gave me more artifact looking details in general. I also find that the details in Lightroom are by default a little softer and can be sharpened cleaner to individual taste. It is so close that any difference is not worth the hassle of the workflow I give up. I personally find that the colors represented via Lightroom’s color profiles virtually match the Olympus colors. Take a close look once you click to open the image up. In this last image you can see there is definite difference in the way Moire (or false color) is rendered on the screw threadings. General Comparison – Naturalīlue is where the strongest difference is to my eyes between lightroom and Olympus viewer. These next two images are more of a look at the overall scene and details. The only thing done is to select the correct color profile in each software.Ĭlick on the photos if you want to see a larger version! Olympus Vivid Let’s find out! These files are all straight from the camera with no adjustments made. But do they really match? Can lightroom obtain the same color results as Olympus’ own software? If you have my Presets, then you have already seen my quick presets to activate these. In the develop module under Camera calibration is a dropdown with color profiles. Adobe releases color profiles that “match” the olympus ones. Photographers that want these colors have thought they need to use OV3 to keep these colors in the RAW environment and that Lightroom can’t match them since the Adobe color profile is very different. OV3 has all of these settings built in the raw developer. (I still recommend only RAW…) With color profiles, you can get these JPG color palettes on the raw file. JPG shooting from an olympus is great for this reason. Each manufacturer has its signature color palette, and Olympus is known for their excellent color. OV3 has something that draws most people to it though. (Yes I know lightroom has had its share of performance issues…but it works a LOT better than OV3) Most people i’ve spoken with share this experience. When I have a LOT of images to go through, it becomes a giant time-eater to work in OV3. Processing images is slow…and I have a pretty hefty workstation. Layout and movement within the software is not nearly as refined in my opinion. Image editing from shot to shot is not nearly as smooth and functional as Lightroom in my opinion. In these scenarios using Olympus Viewer 3 software may be just fine. And for those situations…why use lightroom? Or why use the manufacturer’s software. A lot of people just use one system though. Having a workflow program that could handle different camera files and not require me to use different software for each was amazing. I have shot with gear from Panasonic, Nikon, Pentax, and Sony as well. I also own, or have owned gear from Canon, Fuji, Olympus, Leica, Phase One, and Hasselblad. Especially since I work in the commercial photography world, I occasionally have to shoot with gear different from my main setup. I have always shot with various brands of cameras. By version 4 lightroom had really sorted out well into a very strong workflow system with solid raw development. I criticized it heavily up until version 3 or 4. Lightroom has been around for quite a while. As always, make your decision for you, to ensure you are getting the results you want. My color preferences may be quite different than yours. My workflow may be quite different than yours. I want to share some images and let you decide for yourself what is right for you. Then again, using a workflow or program that can’t deliver is just as bad. Nobody wants to sacrifice quality by using a software that can’t deliver. I get a lot of questions about Lightroom and even more about Olympus Viewer 3. Here are the hottest streakers of all-time. The US Open, Wimbledon and seemingly every second football game have hosted a streaker. Roberts isn't the only person who thinks streaking is super funny. Jacqui worked as a lap dancer in the Burke and Hare pub in Edinburgh and thought that streaking would be great publicity for her modelling career. His lawyer is Richard Haynes, one of the best lawyers in Texas who argues at trial that Roberts is not guilty: nobody told you you couldn’t go onto the field. If they had a streaker Hall of Fame, Jacqui Salmond would be the crown jewel. Both sets had Velcro so they can be torn away easily. Roberts goes prepared with two seats of clothes, his own and the referee’s uniform underneath. Mom, dad, I run across fields naked for a living. The brit is no longer allowed in the United States but he's a millionaire so it balances out. He was paid one million dollars to streak at the Super Bowl. At some events, security guards carry his photo around. One of the world's most famous streakers, Mark Roberts, has streaked at more than 500 events, including Super Bowl XXXVIII between the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers. It turns out streaking can also be big business. Streaking is an English/Australian export to North America, that circulated college campuses and then became mainstream, making all of the way to the Super Bowl. It's not sexual, it's just a fun activity for those who have had a few too many. Erica Roe, one of the first female streakers, was said to be "inspired by alcohol." Streaking is the act of running naked through a public place such as a sporting event as a prank, a dare, a drunken display or an act of protest. This fact is made up and likely not true. In his book, Meb for Mortals: How to Run, Think and Eat Like a Champion Marathoner, he explains the concept of "pre-hab"-the workouts and other routines he religiously follows in order to stay healthy and keep breaking records at the age of 40. "It's better to run one mile less and do a proper stretch and cool-down after, than to run an extra mile and skip the stretching," he says. Keflezighi stresses that he only does these very long runs when he's healthy and feeling strong. Once he is three weeks out from race day, he begins his usual taper phase. In fact, Keflezighi may do two or three full-distance runs prior to a race, staying true to long run form by keeping the pace about 60 to 90 seconds slower per mile than his anticipated race pace. " you do it a few weeks before the race, know your body can take the distance," he says, adding that running the full distance in training helps him recover much more quickly after the race itself. For Keflezighi, it all comes down to confidence. In an interview with last fall, elite marathoner Meb Keflezighi mentioned that he often runs a full 26.2 miles-and sometimes even exceeds that distance-on his longest training runs in the weeks leading up to competition. Not sure if the demo is still about but there was one. If youre hard in for any one element you will probably feel a bit "eh" over it but if you take it as a full package its hard to fault it short of some of the bugs which theyve been blazing through fixing.ĭev's said they plan on adding new stuff so theres a case to be made for waiting but IMO theres enough in there now to give you enough of an enjoyable time if it the overall thing appeals to you. The art, sound, thematic, etc all give it an extra layer on top that rounds out the experience really well. Obviously theres a limit of how easy or hard it can be depends on your skill level and similar to the management it isnt overly expansive but i find it engaging and just varied enough to keep working through. Aditionally for non-indie games like CotL this cert process also costs money so these small devs usually gravitate towards delaying patches as long as possible to merge several PC patches into a big console one. Similar for the crusades/roguelikeish bits, the combat is engaging enough with a good flow, variation and pace but can get as easy as you want to make it depending on your fleece choice and how quick you pick it up. The certification process takes longer on consoles to ensure stuff doesn't brick the hardware among other things. You just assign a cultist to do something and off they go and mostly leave them to it. Its not rimworld basically, it has its limits and just deep enough to give you a degree of control and fluidity over it but not overly deep to the point you are having to make up schedules or set up task queues. The cult management is just enough to be engaging and give you choice and room to minmax or decorate if you want to but isnt necessary at all to do so you could be mostly hands off and just do the basics until you get to a point its almost semi self-sustainable. Its a game thats made up by the total package not any individual element. You’ll first need to access the abilities themselves, and that requires one currency: Sardinium actually unlocking their benefits requires upgrade points.Ĭharacter dialogue, which often tries a little too hard to be charming yet edgy, is once again delivered by text with simlish-like (Inklish?) audio chatter. Or the fact that unlocking hero abilities or upgrades for your Inkling are behind not one, but two, in-game currency paywalls. Those include things like the inability to view or change settings - like turning off motion controls - whilst in a mission area. This, along with some other strange design choices in Hero Mode, has left me baffled. Though in what can only be described as a grossly missed opportunity, bonuses for beating personal records are nowhere to be found and you can forget online leaderboards altogether. This should be enough to warrant at least a single playthrough of each level as the highest rewards are earned the first time each mission is completed. Though of the missions I did complete, not once did I spot any repetition which, of course, kept the experience pretty fresh throughout. Hero Mode doesn’t require you to complete every mission available, only enough to clear the Fuzzy Ooze blocking your most direct path I was able to skip the last island almost entirely while still getting to the final boss In most cases, the missions themselves simply require you to move from point A to point B, though the methods required to do so are impressively varied considering mechanics. These eggs are then used to clear the world of Fuzzy Ooze, thus granting access to more kettles and, thus, more missions. The loosely-applied narrative puts you in search of the cuttlefish Gramps, who’s been kidnapped by a trio of wannabe influencers calling themselves The Deep Cut.Įxploring the world will have you finding kettles embedded in the ground which you use to access missions that upon completion award your Inkling with salmon eggs. The campaign, once again called Hero Mode, has your squid-human hybrid Inkling completing a number of challenge missions spread out over a small cluster of islands taken over by toxic Fuzzy Ooze of an unknown origin. While the campaign is a much more lengthy affair this time around it by no means offers us anything to write home about and the changes to the online experience - not that I can’t say much about that, pre-release. Turf War and Ranked Battles (now called Anarchy Battles) have returned and a much larger campaign takes centre stage. With Splatoon 3, the drip-feed of content continues with a few more additions thrown into the mix, though none really make any significant impact on the proceedings overall. Splatoon 2 added a little more to the package Salmon Run, a co-op horde mode, was a welcome addition that offered up a new way to play while Hero Mode, its single-player campaign, trained players in Inkling warfare and was a fun… but a seemingly tacked-on addition to the title. When Splatoon was first released on the Wii U it was justifiably applauded for its originality, but criticised for a lack of content on offer. Especially with the Dungeon Defenders update, wherein the tower defense worked so well even in 2D, along with the already present weapons of Terraria, giving the game a fresh new experience.įurthermore, both games also benefited from the events greatly, as the already iconic characters and bosses of Terraria can be seen in a new light. The content of the updates themselves also did not feel phoned in at all, and felt like such a natural addition to the game. The second was a recent crossover with the hit game Don’t Starve Together, where the games exchanged some bosses and iconic items.īoth crossovers garnered praise from fans, bringing content from both games they loved into one another. The first major one was with the game Dungeon Defenders II, wherein the game received a new event based on the gameplay loop of said game. These crossovers would exchange content between the two, like a boss or two going to the crossover game or vice versa. “Eye for an eye” update image from Steam History with CrossoversĪlong with major updates came some crossovers Terraria had with other games. These were highly awaited by fans as they changed and added huge aspects to the game that made for a better experience. Major patches had a full number at the end like 1.2, 1.3 etc. With these patches also came new weapons, items, and blocks that further diversified the game. The enemy and boss variety also lacked a bit, since most of them were added in later patches. With 1.0 having only Skeletron as the final boss, and without even having Hardmode, which is now a staple of the game. In addition to the sprite changes, a lot has changed in gameplay as well. A simple gaze at the backdrop showed how it was still rather cartoony and vanilla. Some sprites looked blurry, while others were more simple in detail. During which, the first thing that hits is the overall quality of both the sprite works and the game itself. This has been tackled by one of ChippyGaming‘s videos where he plays patch 1.0. If you took footage of Terraria on its release and now, it’d feel familiar yet with some things slightly off.
